晩鐘 Banshō －「夕方の鐘」

昨年に引き続き2019年秋も、マラネッロと日本の関係をより深めるため、フロリアーノ・テッラーノによる講演を通して、日本文化の交流を開催します。会場も昨年と同じく、日本の建築家・磯崎新氏によって設計されたマビック図書館です。磯崎氏は「建築のノーベル賞」とも言われる２０１９年のプリツカー賞を受賞。伝統的な日本建築にインスパイアされた印象的なスタイルの図書館は、マラネッロでも日本の伝統文化との繋がりを感じることができます。今年の講演のタイトルは「晩鐘ばんしょ – 夜の鐘」です。つまり晩鐘とは、夜の始まりを告げる仏教寺院の鐘の音。今年の全５回講演の主なテーマは、日本の土地で生まれた神教、また中国・韓国から伝わった仏教がどのような教えを説き、日本人の精神を育て上げたのか、また神教・仏教から生まれた芸術的および文化的作品を紹介していく。現在の日本の現代社会、超現代社会、そして超技術社会は、古くからの伝統的な儀式や、仏教と神教の両方の教えや精神の上に成り立っているものであり、日常生活の中でも息づいている。また古くから伝わることわざは、神教と仏教の儀式と密接に関連しており、日本人の生活を要約したものです。夜の訪れを知らせる鐘の音と同じように、Mabicでの講演・イベントは秋の土曜日、午後5時から開催されます。最終回の第５回目の講演では、日本人アーティストによる書道のデモンストレーションを行います。

キュレーター : Floriano Terrano（フロリアーノ ・テッラーノ）は、特に東アジア、日本の芸術、文化、社会についての記事を書くと共に、東アジアの社会や文化について様々な講演会を企画し開催している。また、日本と東アジアの芸術家の展覧会をキュレーションしています。これまでにミラノのアルテジャパンギャラリー、ミラノのスフォルツェスコ城博物館、モデナのシビックギャラリー、在イタリア日本商工会議所、モデナ写真財団、モデナの軍事アカデミー、マラネッロの自治体、マビックマラネッロ文化図書館、オリエンタル美術館、ジェノヴァのキヨッソーネ美術館、レッジョエミーリア博物館など、数多くの施設や美術館とコラボレーションしています。ブログwww.higashishinbun.blogspot.comでは、すでに公開されている記事や、日本と東洋の文化の分野における活動を見ることができます。

晩鐘 Banshō – The evening bell

Mabic, Maranello, 21st September – 30th November 2019

The relationship between Maranello and Japan continues also in 2019 with the autumnal meetings on Japanese culture by Floriano Terrano. The meeting place will be Mabic new town library by the Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, winner of the 2019 Pritzker Prize. Mabic is a space traditionally linked to Japan because of its symbolic style inspired by traditional Japanese architecture with a contemporary eye. The title of this year's festival is “晩鐘 Banshō - The evening bell”. Banshō is literally "the evening bell", i.e. the ringing of the bell bonshō (梵鐘) of Buddhist temples that announces the beginning of the evening, time both for meditation and for amorous encounters. The dominant theme of this year's cycle of meetings will be the spirituality of the Land of the Rising Sun in its various artistic forms, the indigenous religion of Shintoism and the Chinese and Korean introduction. Contemporary Japanese society, even if it is hypermodern and hyper-technological, continues to have ancient and traditional rituals and occasions of both Buddhism and Shintoism religions in everyday life. A Japanese traditional saying sums up the life of the Japanese, inextricably linked to the rituals of Shintoism and Buddhism: "Born Shinto, die Buddhist". Just like the ringing of the evening bell, the meetings at the Mabic will be held from 5 pm on autumn Saturdays’ afternoons. At the conclusion of the event there will be the participation of a Japanese artist who will perform a demonstration of traditional art.

    Saturday 21st September 2019, 5.00 pm: Kakutōgi. Traditional sports of Japan.

   Saturday 5th October 2019, 5.00 pm: Shintō to Bukkyō. Shintoism and Buddhism, Japanese           religions.

    Saturday 19th October 2019, 5.00 pm: Chōkoku. Japanese sculpture.

    Saturday 16th November 2019, 5.00 pm: Tōjiki. Japanese ceramics.

    Saturday 30th November 2019, 5.00 pm: Shodō. The art of Japanese calligraphy.

Curator:

Floriano Terrano writes about art, culture and society of Far East, Japan in particular. His articles have been published in newspapers and magazines. He organizes conferences and exhibitions dedicated to various aspects of Far Eastern society and culture. He curates exhibitions of Japanese and Far Eastern artists. He cooperated with various institutions and museums including: Galleria Arte Giappone Milan, Musei del Castello Sforzesco Milan, Galleria Civica Modena, Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Italy c/o JETRO Milan, Fondazione Fotografia Modena, Accademia Militare Modena, Municipality of Maranello, Mabic Maranello Biblioteca Cultura, Edoardo Chiossone Museum of Oriental Art Genoa, Musei Civici Reggio Emilia. On his blog www.higashishinbun.blogspot.com there are some of his previously published articles and some of his activities in the field of Japanese and Oriental culture.
